I am Christian Finker, a web application developer from Styria, Austria. I mainly use PHP in my projects, along with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. Occasionally, for WebSocket connections, I also incorporate Node.js in the backend.
When working with PHP, I generally use frameworks such as Symfony, Drupal, OpenEuropa, or WordPress as a foundation to develop robust web applications. I am always interested in exploring other frameworks and tools as well.
My work at akaryon
Since 2016, I’ve been working for Akaryon, where we build excellent tools focusing on environmental topics. Currently, I’m managing several European Commission projects related to climate change. Collaborating with international partners to empower cities, energy communities, and ultimately all European citizens to create a climate-friendly future is immensely rewarding. Additionally, I develop educational tools and work on various national client projects. Discover more on Akaryon’s website.
Working as a lecturer
Since 2023, I’ve had the honor of working as a lecturer at FH Joanneum in Kapfenberg. Each semester, I teach a course and share my knowledge with students. I enjoy working on small Android and NodeJs projects with them. Watching their progress is a wonderful change from my daily job at Akaryon.
My life beside code
To recharge, I go hiking in the Austrian Alps with friends whenever possible. Experiencing nature is a great way to relax. Styria’s beautiful landscape is truly worth protecting, and we should try to mitigate climate change as much as possible. Traveling is another hobby, along with listening to podcasts and playing board games with friends.
